Ludmil Boubbov
Ballet Master, Youth America Ballet
Ludmil Boubbov was born in Sofia Bulgaria. He has a professional teaching certificate from the Vaganova Academic Choreographic School (LAHU) in S. Petersburg (Leningrad) - Russia, where he studied under Valentina Vaselievna Rumianceva - a student of the famous A.J. Vaganova. Ludmil Boubbov graduated from the National Choreographic School in Sofia, and perfected his technique studying with Mr. A.I. Pushkin, the most famous teacher of the Kirov Ballet and teacher of Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Mr. Boubbov was appointed Principal Dancer with the State Opera in Varna, Bulgaria, and danced lead roles in such ballets as Giselle, Les Sylphides, Romeo and Juliette, Coppelia, Spartacus, and The Fountain of Bakhchisarai. He was a participant in the first Moscow International Ballet Competition along with Mikhail Baryshnikov and many other international ballet dancers. He was a soloist with the Deutsche Opera. Mr. Boubbov was awarded the bronze medal in the International Competition in Varna and served as rehearsal director with Theater Des Westerns in West Berlin where he danced in Swan Lake, Coppelia, The Four Temperaments as well as such musicals as West Side Story, Oklahoma, Show Boat, and many others. He also performed for ten years as a soloist with the National Opera Ballet in Sofia, Bulgaria. Ludmil has worked under such greats as George Balanchine, J. Grigorovich, Oleg Vinogradov, and Alicia Alonso. He has worked with Leonard Bernstein, Oscar Hammerstein, Maia Pliseckaja, and Natalia Makarova. Mr. Boubbov has over 5 decades of professional ballet experience. He has been teaching for twenty-six years throughout the world and is proud that some of his students have become internationally known performers.
